Walnut Brownies Recipe

This recipe for walnut brownies was first published in the “Lil’ Chefs” calendar by Unicef.

You can put all kinds of messages on your brownies with the walnuts!

Kit needed

  • 23 x 23 cm oven dish
  • 1 large pan
  • a wooden spoon

Ingredients (yields approximately 20 brownies)

  • 120 g butter
  • 175 g dark chocolate
  • 175 g sugar
  • 120 g regular flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/2 sachet vanilla sugar
  • 150 g chopped walnuts

Instructions

  • Measure out all the ingredients first
  • Cut up the chocolate
  • Grease the oven dish with butter, or better yet, line the oven dish with grease proof paper and grease that up
  • Melt the butter slowly in a pan on a low to medium heat
  • Once the butter is melted, add the chopped up chocolate
  • Take the pan off the heat once the chocolate has melted
  • Add in the sugar whilst stirring with a wooden spoon
  • Fold in the eggs, the salt and the vanilla sugar
  • Stir the mixture vigorously
  • Whilst stirring slowly, add all the flour in in one go and pour in the walnuts bit by bit
  • Pour the mixture into the oven dish
  • Smooth the surface with the spoon
  • Put into the oven for 25 minutes at 200c
  • Leave to cool in oven dish for a bit, then transfer and cut.
If your brownies come out like this, they’ve not been in long enough. It’ll still be delicious though!
